Crinoid calyx origin from stem radial echinoderms

چکیده

Abstract Evidence from the earliest-known crinoids (Tremadocian, Early Ordovician), called protocrinoids, is used to hypothesize initial steps by which elements of calyx evolved. Protocrinoid calyces are composed extraxial primary and surrounding secondary plates (both have epispires along their sutures) that unlike those more crownward fossil extant in equivalent calycinal plating strongly organized. These reductions inspired several schemes name these calyces. However, primary-secondary systems seen protocrinoids first appeared among Cambrian stem radial echinoderms, with primaries representing centers around secondaries were sequentially added during ontogeny. Therefore, protocrinoid represents an intermediate condition between earliest echinoderms crinoids. Position ontogeny indicate certain remained as loss occurred, resulting abutting into conjoined alternating circlets characteristic This transformative event included suppression modification or, commonly, elimination respiratory structures. data subradial plate terminology does not correspond most common usage, but rather, supports alternative redefinition traditional expressions. Extension adoral growth fixed rays preceded Restriction or structures also accompanied this modification. Phylogenetic analyses support crinoid origination early pentaradiate separate blastozoans. Accordingly, all Tremadocian express a distinctive aggregate plesiomorphic apomorphic commonalities; branch within clade, subclass-level clades. Nevertheless, each taxon assemblage expresses at least one diagnostic apomorphy camerate, cladid, disparid

Automated Apple Stem‐end/calyx Identification

Machine vision methods are widely used in apple defect detection and quality grading applications. Currently, 2D near‐infrared (NIR) imaging technology is used to detect apple defects based on the difference in image intensity of defects from normal apple tissue. However, it is difficult to accurately differentiate an apple's stem‐end/calyx from a true defect due to their similar 2D NIR images,...

A hexamer origin of the echinoderms’ five rays

Of the major deuterostome groups, the echinoderms with their multiple forms and complex development are arguably the most mysterious. Although larval echinoderms are bilaterally symmetric, the adult body seems to abandon the larval body plan and to develop independently a new structure with different symmetries. The prevalent pentamer structure, the asymmetry of Lovén’s rule and the variable lo...

Regenerative response and endocrine disrupters in crinoid echinoderms: arm regeneration in Antedon mediterranea after experimental exposure to polychlorinated biphenyls.

Regenerative phenomena, which have the advantage of reproducing developmental processes in the adult organism, are very sensitive to environmental stress and represent stages that can be monitored for damage at the whole-organism, cellular and molecular levels. Some persistent and ubiquitous pollutants, which can affect the natural environment because of their bioaccumulation in organisms, exer...

Reassessing the improbability of a muscular crinoid stem

Muscular articulations in modern stalked crinoids are only present in the arms. Although it has been suggested that certain coiled-stemmed fossil taxa may have been functionally adapted to utilize muscles, evidence supporting this interpretation is lacking. Here, we use cathodoluminescence and SEM to reveal the skeletal microstructure of the enigmatic coiled-stemmed taxon Ammonicrinus (Flexibil...
